Olympus MMF-3 4/3 Adapter Reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus MMF-3 4/3 Adapter (Electronics) The adapter is a necessary item if you are going from 4/3 to m.4/3. My biggest complaint would be that it is not metal like the camera it is intended to go on(Olympus OMD-E1). Right now I have it on the Olympus EPL-1 and it works fine. Actually it impressed me. The focus speed is better than on my Old Olympus E-500. It is a relatively inexpensive way to get use out of your old favorite lenses. If you own a 4/3 camera and are thinking about moving to m.4/3, you will want and need this. You could probably get by with the mmf-2 or even the mmf-1 is you don't need weathersealing. That is why I give it a three. By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Olympus MMF-3 4/3 Adapter (Electronics) Sure it's made of plastic, but that does not mean its a bad product. The mounts are metal and it keeps those 4/3 lenses that are also dust & splash proof, well... dust and splash proof.Works for ANY Olympus and Panasonic micro four thirds camera, but the EM-5 is the only m4/3 camera that has splash/dust proofing, so it's the most likely candidate. This also means future m4/3 cameras with dust/splash proofing will benefit. Making your m4/3 cameras and 4/3 lenses future proof for a good time to come. 7 of 13 people found the following review helpful By N.S. While the OM-D is still nowhere to be seen (no big deal I guess, it's been "only" 71 days of wait after all), the MMF-3 arrived last week, and I unpacked it last night.First thing first: All 4/3 to m43 adapters are mechanically the same. There is no chip, no electronics. There are only pass-through electrical contacts. *** *** **** The long story: *** *** **** Some MMF history (you can skip to the end if you don't feel like reading the whole thing): - The MMF-1 came first. It came at the time when there were almost no m43 lenses available, and when a m43 user had to rely on his/her 4/3 lens collection. It was also the time when Olympus was still expecting to be able to solve in a fast way the issue with m43 cameras being slow to focus with 4/3 lenses (I'm not inventing this AF part, it's all in the interviews with Olympus' techs popping...
